Dr. Michael Chafetz


Dr. Chafetz maintains an active practice in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology for children, adolescents, and adults. He provides evidence-based neuropsychological assessment for cases involving head injury, stroke, toxicity, MS, dementia, other neurodegenerative processes, ADHD, and learning disabilities. Assessments include analysis of effort/validity, and of social and emotional functioning, along with extensive neuropsychological testing. Dr. Chafetz handles medicolegal cases, along with long- and short-term disability, workers’ compensation, and fitness-for-duty examinations. He will perform a testamentary capacity analysis that may include a dementia workup or other neuropsychological analysis, or a neuropsychological autopsy. He also provides therapeutic interventions utilizing cognitive-behavioral and insight-oriented therapies.


Dr. Chafetz is licensed in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology by the State of Louisiana (#762). He is also licensed as a Psychologist in Texas (#33311). For Louisiana Psychology licensing.  For Texas Psychology licensing.

Board Certification

Dr. Chafetz is recognized as a specialist in Clinical Neuropsychology. He is Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Through the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN), Dr. Chafetz provides mentoring for the development of specialists in the field of Clinical Neuropsychology. His practice also provides a site for clinical graduate student development through externships and practicums. He is also available to help advise young professionals in the field of Psychology and Neuropsychology.
